Great article. Just started getting involved in YCGOP local politics in 21. It seem to me that PrecinctStrategy.com was the best strategy that I have seen that was competitive with bigger money interests. 2023 this strategy made good progress. But by 2025 it seemed to have suffered net losses. Maybe we were biting off more than we could chew. Too many battles weakened the forces and thus the results. I always thought Closed Primaries was a secondary issue behind the Social Agenda and Spending.
There is a lot of cheating by the establishment nationally to simply remove the democratic process at the PC level. It's an opportunity to regroup, because that's what "they" did.
Brilliant article, Alaina, thank you! Now the rest of us should break down these well-articulated concepts as much as needed to awaken our neighbors. Many conservative-hearted South Carolinians are confused by how we are the bluest red state. This piece explains it clearly. Boldly go tell.
I would point out the timeline for county reorganization and conventions is laid out in SC law.
The law would have to be changed by the SC legislature to move re-org, county convention, & State Convention to anytime other than when they are now held.
This is a brilliant analysis and should be required reading for Republican South Carolina.
